Our history


1928

The Norwegian Industrial Association’s Rationalisation Office (IRAS) is founded.  The company’s objective is “to act as consultant for industrial and other enterprises” and “to make reports about organisational issues”.

1946

Hartmark is founded under the name of “Skare & Stangeland”. Fees: senior consultant NOK 12, junior consultant NOK 6.

1967

Hartmark & Co is founded with five partners. Purchases IRAS and is marketed as Hartmark-IRAS. Recruitment established as separate business area.

1978

By far the largest Norwegian company in this line of business. Heavily involved in extensive restructuring in traditional industrial areas such as Kongsberg and Mo i Rana.

2007

Management Consulting Company of the Year. The main criterion for the award was that the company had a perspective that demonstrated its awareness of the social responsibility of business and industry.

2008

New company structure. Hartmark AS is founded with two subsidiaries: Hartmark Consulting and Hartmark Executive Search.

2013

The Varde Group and Hartmark Consulting merge. Hartmark Executive Search AS is included as one of several subsidiaries in a new group structure.

2014

Hartmark Executive Search AS expands and opens a branch in Tønsberg to serve the market in Vestfold, Buskerud and Telemark.
